[Printerpullpages] Easy way to create text watermarks

Thomas Lendo
Hi,

the new interface of the project Printerpullpages for OOo 3.3 is
awesome. Thanks for your good work!

Maybe it is possible (or more/easier possible than in the past) to add a
new option to this UI to insert simple text watermarks for printing.

An issue for this is issue 22405 [1] from 2003.

Today it's really complicated to insert a simple text watermark.
Not every printer supports this feature itself.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Lendo,

the last comment in issue 22405 states that this would be
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" [1]. Wow, I wasn't aware that there
is such a big demand for that ;-)

As far as I know, there are no plans to work on such a feature. There
are several reasons for that. Most likely, we didn't know about that.
And, we focused on providing the same functionality like in earlier
versions of OpenOffice.org. Finally, such features make it really hard
with regard to the native printing dialogs (e.g. Mac OS X) - there would
be no benefit for these users.

However, I've said that we were not aware of this demand. The person who
is (from the ressources point of view) in charge of that is PL. Could
you please add him to the people the issue is assigned to. In the
meantime, I've added your proposal to the Idea Collection list at [2].
If you like, you may add some more thoughts how it might look like.
Thanks!

To be honest, I won't be able to work on that soon, especially since I
owe Regina and Camille some answers with regard to printing (ancient
times...).

Have a nice day,
Christoph

Choice in dialogue retained for next print action? Re: [ux-user interface] [Printerpullpages]

I experience that in the new printer dialogue for Impress, the choice
for hand outs (and maybe more) is not retained between print actions. In
3.2. this choice is retained.

Cannot see that easily in the (extensive) information if that is on
purpose or by accident.
Any idea?

Thanks,
Cor

This may be an issue ... at least I don't remember that we decided to
explicitly go for that. Philipp, could you please add a small
comment ... should I open an issue for that?

Thank you Cor!

Bye,
Christoph

Please do; assign it to cl or af (cl more likely). And probably this
needs definition what the behavior should be. AFAIK in writer the
conclusion was to have the writer specific options persistent.

Kind regards, pl

Hi Philipp, hi Christian,

I'll take care of that ... but since this requires some thoughts, it
won't be started before the weekend. I hope this is early enough ...
sorry!

Bye,
Christoph
